Stop for snorkeling around “Stupa”, “Crklica”, “Sridnjak” or “Vrhovnjak” to find out why these are some of the most interesting Korcula snorkeling sites.
Stupa
Stupa is the first islet in front of Prizba looking from the west. Mostly without greenery and steep rocks, it looks like a desert island from a pirate movie, making it an interesting first choice for Korcula snorkeling adventure.
Where To Anchor A Boat On Stupa?
There are two parts of Stupa that locals call “Mala glava” and “Vela glava” (Small Head and Big Head). On the thinnest part between them on the side facing to Prizba, there is a shallow sea with a nice pebble bottom. This is a nice place to stop for a swim and start your Korcula snorkeling experience.

If you start snorkeling on the side facing Prizba towards the Big Head the sea bottom goes from very shallow to very deep, especially near the Big Head. The feeling of a “deep blue” is immense. Continuing around the Big Head to the side facing the open sea the bottom becomes very rocky. Countless carved stones hide fish habitats. Sea urchins lay on the bottom waiting for the sun to uncover their beautiful colors. Continuing to the Small Head the bottom is still rocky but becomes shallower. Colorful flora of the sea bottom and lively stone textures make an unforgettable Korcula snorkeling impression.
Crklica
Crklica is an islet with an interesting shape. It is covered with rich greenery and has several sides. Each side has a different landscape. North and west side facing Prizba are covered with interesting winding pine trees. Greenery on the south side is shaped by the strong winds which blow ruthlessly during the winter.

Look for a small reservoir which was built to collect rainwater for the wild animals. It is on the north – west side. This is a nice place to stop and anchor the boat.

We recommend starting from the boat anchor point towards the western cape. The bottom of the sea varies from sandy to rocky. As you approach the cape the bottom is covered with seaweed like a carpet. Continuing around the cape the bottom becomes deeper and in one point extremely deep. In this spot, you will feel the magic of the deep blue experience of Korcula snorkeling.
Sridnjak
This island’s name comes from the local variation of the word “middle” because of its position which is rather in the middle of the islets. It is a rather long islet with a small hill which makes it taller than rest of the islets. Sridnjak has some very interesting sloped rock formations on its southern side, made by waves and winds during the course of many centuries. The northern side (the side facing Prizba) however might be more pleasant for anchoring a boat and relaxing, mostly because there are more pine trees stretching across the rocks making nice shades.
Where To Anchor A Boat On Sridnjak?
The eastern cape of Sridnjak, on the side facing Prizba, is a nice place to anchor a boat. It provides a good starting point for the access to the inner part of the island if you would like to explore the vegetation as well as the coast.

Inner part of the islet’s underwater paysage is rocky for the first 15-20 meters. Distancing from the shore, it becomes sandy with a lots of seagrass. The outer part of Sridnjak has some very interesting rock slopes that start from the coast of the islet and then continue into the depths.

Vrhovnjak
Vrhovnjak is the most eastern of the islets in front of Prizba and might be the most popular one, either for anchoring a boat or as a stop for Korcula snorkeling. It has a couple of notable features for anchoring a boat, docking enjoying the views laying in the shades of pines or exploring the depths.

The inner part of Vrhovnjak that is facing Prizba has many pleasant spots for anchoring a boat, some with pebbles and a nice entrance to the sea. There is an indented part which is also very often used as an anchoring spot. The outer part has a small peninsula extension called Maharac which creates a lagoon-like area and it is also good as a anchoring spot for Korcula snorkeling.

If you start your Korcula snorkeling journey from the side facing Prizba, there are couple of spots with pebbles and shallow sea, making the exit to the shore very accessible. The bottom of the sea is quite similar as in Sridnjak, with sandy part starting about 15-20 meters from the shoreline. The outer part has nice underwater shapes in the area of Maharac, with various rocky shapes ranging from shallow to sudden depth drops. There are also similar shapes as on the outer part of Sridnjak.
