1. Preparing for the journey to the island with Korcula ferries in mind

We strongly advise to add to your travel plan at least 2-3 additional hours which is a recommended time to come in the line for Korcula ferry boarding before its sailing time. That way you will avoid the crowds and traffic jams as well as the possibility that there will not be enough space on the Korcula ferry to board it. In that case, you will spend a huge amount of your valuable holiday time on exhausting driving or waiting for another ferry up to 16 hours.
Also, if you bought the tickets for a Korcula ferry online, please note that it is not a guarantee that you bought your place for the ferry. You still need to be in the line as close as possible to the ferry.
All mentioned information on Korcula ferries is less significant in June, September and other low season months when there is not so much crowd but in July and August, it is a necessity.
2. Which Korcula ferry to choose
Our guests often ask us to advice which Korcula ferry to choose, which one is fastest and which Korcula ferry route is the cheapest.
There is no straightforward answer to this question, but we will try to give you as much information as possible based on our and our guest’s experience on Korcula ferries.
Ferry Split – Vela Luka
Ferry Split – Vela Luka timetable, sailing schedule
Jadrolinija.hr
Advantages
- Korcula ferry Split – Vela Luka is the best answer on how to get to Korcula island quickly, especially if you rent accommodation on the western part of Korcula
- While waiting for the ferry, we suggest to check out sightseeing spots in Split like Diocletian palace, which is close to the ferry port
- Ferry Split – Vela Luka sailing time is about 3 hours. We would like to point this out as an advantage because most people like to rest after a long drive but it can also be a disadvantage if you prefer to drive than staying on the ferry to Korcula
Disadvantages
- Slightly higher cost (the ferries from Ploce to Trpanj and from Orebic to Domince Korcula are much cheaper but you should also consider more fuel expenses)
- Ferry port in Split as well as the roads when approaching Split and through the city can be crowded with traffic jams during season peaks in July and August
- Ferry Split – Vela Luka sails only twice a day
Ferry Ploce – Trpanj (peninsula Peljesac)
Ferry Ploče – Trpanj timetable, sailing schedule
Jadrolinija.hr
Advantages
- Less crowded compared to Korcula ferry Split – Vela Luka but always keep in mind to arrive in line for the ferry at least one hour before sailing time
- Quick approach from the highway to the port.
- Slightly lower overall cost to get to Korcula when using the combination of ferries Ploce – Trpanj and Orebic – Domince (Korcula)
- 6 – 7 sails per day gives you more flexibility when choosing this ferry
- One hour sailing time – you will quickly arrive at the peninsula Peljesac compared to driving around via Ston
Disadvantages
- Longer driving time
Ferry Orebic – Domince (Korcula)

Ferry Orebic – Domince (Korcula) is a necessity to come to the island of Korcula if you came to peninsula Peljesac with a ferry Ploce – Trpanj. If you choose not to use ferry Ploce – Trpanj, you can also drive “around” via border crossing in Neum, through Ston and through Peljesac peninsula which will take some additional time.

Ferry Orebic – Domince (Korcula) via Peljesac bridge *Our recommendation

3. Driving on the island of Korcula, How to Find Prizba and apartments Andreis
Once you reach the island of Korcula, the island is well connected with roads. Every place and even smaller coves and Korcula beaches are also connected with asphalt roads, with a few exceptions with macadam paths.
Driving from Vela Luka to Prizba
After leaving the ferry in Vela Luka turn right and drive along the main road to Blato. On the crossroad for entering Blato, turn left for direction Korcula and you will be on the road that bypasses Blato. At the end of that, you will reach a crossroad and road turn right like you would like to enter Blato, this time from another direction. After about 600 meters you will reach one roundabout and take the third exit to Prizba.
Follow the main road (the road is very curvy) and first, you will reach the bay of Grscica. Just continue following the main road for about 2 kilometers more. You will pass near a closed hotel and 50 meters from there, there is a small crossroads where you should follow the main road (left). About 150 meters from there you will reach a small curve where you will see a small road table “9km” on the right side. 10 meters before this table is the passage to the yard of the apartments Andreis house where you can park your car.
Driving from Korcula to Prizba
When you leave the ferry from Korcula, follow the main road along the island to the crossroad between places Pupnat and Cara (on the top of the hill closer to Cara). There you should turn to Cara and Smokvica. There is only one intersection in the center of Smokvica where you should turn left to Brna.
At the first crossroad in Brna turn right to Prizba. You will pass near a small bay called Istruga. Follow the road and after 5-7 minutes you will reach the apartment complex Priscapac. Apartments Andreis house is about 2 kilometers from this point. Follow the road and after about 2 kilometers you will reach one small crossroad with a shop on the right side. Do not turn but follow the main road for about 150 meters. You will reach one small curve and on the left side on that curve, you will see a small road table “9km”. About 10 meters after this table turn left on the way to our yard where you can park your car in front of the house.
